Trade fairs and fair support services sector

Kielce Trade Fairs (Targi Kielce S.A.) have an important role in stimulating economic development of the region through crucial impact on hotel and restaurants industry, congress, business and other institutions. When the first trade fair event – the International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO – was held in 1993, nobody expected that twenty years later Kielce Trade Fairs would be the vice-leader in the trade fair industry in Poland and the second exhibition centre in Central and Eastern Europe.

Today Kielce Trade Fairs
have 90,000 m2 of exhibition area,
36,000 m2 of which
is in 7 fully equipped exhibition halls.

There are
over 70 trade fair events organised
with 216,000 visitors
from 56 countries
and 6500 exhibitors annually.

The most popular events organized by the Kielce Trade Fairs are: PLASTPOL –international trade exhibition, the world famous MSPO –  the third defence industry trade fairs in Europe, AUTOSTRADA-POLSKA (Highway Poland) –  one of the largest road construction fairs in Europe, SACROEXPO – the largest religious fairs in Poland and AGROTECH – the most visited agricultural fairs. Simultaneously Kielce Trade Fairs are the organizer of 600 conferences, seminars and training courses a year.

The biggest part of the investment project is the construction of a Convention Center worth 70 mln PLN for over 1,000 people, with an underground car park and a 57-meter tower with conference and banquet room.  The Center was opened on Spetember 28th, 2013.

Andrzej Mochoń, the President of Kielce Trade Fairs explains that there is a trend in the world for exhibitions organizers to develop conference related activities. - Trade fairs are for B2B meetings and narrow specialization around particular industries. Themed meetings are of high importance for professionals.  Therefore, conferences make our trade fair offer more attractive. We intend to go further and, for instance, organize congresses regardless of fair events. Such an investment as the one mentioned above will make it possible, Andrzej Mochoń explains.

In 2007, the city initiated formation of fair cluster. The Kielce Trade Fairs was made the leader of the cluster due to the nature of the business and the scale of the impact of services.

At present, the Kielce Trade Fair Cluster Chamber of Commerce brings together 89 companies, associations and organizations related to business which offer a wide range of services in consultancy, exhibitions, training, promotion, hotel industry, catering, transportation and publishing, as well as institutions working in the field of culture, sport and promotion. Importantly, the cluster is accompanied by business related institutions, such as banks, consulting companies and universities.

The main objective of the cluster is to extend cooperation and  increase the competitiveness of fair services providers, to strengthen relationships between local companies, to represent the business interests of associated companies and to develop the entire region.
